Spring is slowly starting to settle in, and if you want to get out and enjoy the sunny days, there are plenty of parks for outdoor fun in Queensbury.
Halfway Brook Trail
Opened in 2020, Halfway Brook Trail is one of Queensbury’s newest green spaces. The trail leads hikers through Potter’s Woods, also known as the Glens Falls City Watershed Property, and offers a suitable path for walking as well as mountain biking. As you wander, you’ll see wetlands as well as a tree farm, plus the hand-built bridge that takes guests over Halfway Brook.
West End Park
The whole family can enjoy a trip to West End Park, which is one of the oldest parks around town. Open from April to November, the park offers picnic tables and plenty of shade to relax and enjoy the breeze during your picnic. The kids can take advantage of the play area as well, which features slides and other activities. Sports fans will appreciate the baseball field and basketball court.
Hovey Pond Park
This green oasis is just around the corner from Quaker Road and Glen Street, offering a serene retreat with its own peaceful pond. The picturesque park is even a fitting wedding venue with its pavilion and natural appeal. Hovey Pond also sports lovingly tended floral gardens, an observation deck with informational signs about the wetlands, accessible fishing docks, a playground, and benches to let you sit back and take in the scenery.
Ridge/Jenkinsville Park
When you’re ready for some friendly competition, head to Ridge/Jenkinsville Park for its multi-sport athletic fields. It also has a basketball court, as well as a softball complex with four more fields. If you like pickle ball, lace up your shoes and hit any of the eight ball courts at the park. There’s also a walking track if you want to get a few steps in, plus picnic space to enjoy a snack in the airy outdoors. You can even rent facilities if you have an event coming up.
