This fall, why not compete in the 5K Thunder Run/Walk event? If you’re a competitive and athletic person, you can choose to run the course. Otherwise, you can walk at a pace comfortable to you. Either way, this is an excellent way to get exercise while doing something for a good cause.
Fun for Everyone
Captain Shane Harper will get things started at the 5K Thunder Run/Walk event. This is the second year of the annual run/walk, with proceeds going to charity. The Glens Falls Civic Center Foundation will host the event.
Where to Go
If you want to compete in the annual 5K Thunder Walk/Run or go to cheer people on, head to the Cool Insuring Arena. That’s located at 1 Civic Center Plaza in Glens Falls, New York. You can also become a sponsor simply by visiting the organization’s website. The race/walk will take place on Sunday, Oct. 16. The event begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. and should end at 11:00 a.m.
The Glens Falls Civic Center Foundation
This non-profit 501(c) 3), formed in 2003, does a lot for the community. Specifically, it contributes to and promotes philanthropies that want to improve the capital. Not only that, but charitable donations help reduce the cost to operate it. Overall, the members of this foundation work hard to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors of northern New York.
Helping to Make Improvements
This year, the charitable proceeds from the 5K Thunder Walk/Run will help improve the Cool Insuring Arena. More than 50 years old, it needs some serious TLC. This is a great opportunity to do something to get improvements made while having fun.
