It’s about that time! Queensbury’s Annual Adirondack Balloon Festival is right around the corner. During the year 1970, Warren County was eager to draw tourism to the city, and John Marsden, a Virginia balloonist, was ready to share his skills. Soon, the Adirondack Balloon Festival was born, and the city has never turned back. This completely free event was first hosted at the Adirondack Community College, and as it grew, the festival was transferred to the Warren Country airport.

This year will be the 49th festival, and the event is free of charge. On average, Warren County will see over 150,000 people attend the event. The festival has formed relationships with cities like Japan, Quebec, Saga, and Gatineau, and many pilots across the United States will be in attendance. In 2011, Walter Grrishkot, the founder of the festival passed away. To continue his legacy and further education in science and aerospace, there has been a foundation created in his honor.
