Kathryn Lynch – Approach to Painting
You’ll love her work even if you don’t know anything about this artist. One reason is that she paints many different subjects. For that reason, there’s something for everyone. For instance, she’s made paintings of the cityscapes in New York, seascapes of New England, and landscapes of the Hudson Valley.
However, her work is more diverse than that. She paints things like tug boats, flowers, animals, and people. Regardless, one thing, in particular, makes her paintings stand out. Instead of observing them from different vantage points, she captures images in her peripheral vision. As a result, her work gives viewers a remarkable sense of light, form, and the overall atmosphere.
Although the forms in her paintings have a simplistic vibe, they quickly capture the imagination. As Kathryn explained, “I’m not painting a specific place. Instead, I’m painting a specific mood and feeling about a place.” As you look at the new exhibit in Queensbury, NY, you’ll sense that and appreciate her work even more.

Kathryn first completed her Bachelor of Arts from William Smith College. Afterward, she went to the University of Pennsylvania, where she received her Master’s in Fine Art. She also studied at the renowned Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
With college behind her, Kathryn began putting her paintings on display. It didn’t take long for people to recognize her unique talent. For instance, she’s had solo shows at the Private Public Gallery in Hudson, NY. There, she displayed “Between the Sheets.” In addition, she showed her work at the Sears-Peyton Gallery in New York City with “Restless Nights.”
